I’m just going to come out and say it: Why is it okay for religious people to assume they are the only people in this world and that every artist, holiday, small business, piece of décor… you name it, should pander to them and their beliefs?

It’s a rhetorical question, obviously. Growing up in America and experiencing many forms of Christianity through attending church with friends and holidays with family, I know the answer. It’s because religious dogma dominates our society.

After she talked for a while, I asked, “What about other religious holidays?” Since the CEO of our company is Hindu and definitely celebrates those holidays. She offered no response and moved on.

I was so irked that I couldn’t focus on the rest of the discussion. I know I’m not the only employee of this company who likes Halloween. Another co-worker and I love discussing…
